A Journey from Passion to Business
Jennifer Donovan, the owner of Purple Peacock, started her business nine years ago, driven by a love for artwork and antiques. “I’ve always wanted a business,” says Jennifer. Initially, she aimed to combine both passions, but it soon became clear that antiques were more popular among her customers.
Filling a Unique Niche
The Purple Peacock stands out as the region’s premier antique mall, especially after some local businesses closed due to COVID-19. Jennifer notes, “There are no antique malls up here,” emphasizing her business’s unique role in the community. The store features around 100 dealers, including local artists and jewelry makers, with most vendors within 45 minutes of the store.
Constantly Refreshing Inventory
Jennifer ensures a dynamic shopping experience by regularly updating vendors’ displays. “Most of my vendors come in several times a week,” she explains, which means there’s always something new for customers to discover.
A Treasure Trove of Unique Finds
One standout piece is a rare and fascinating Andrews bed from the 1820s. “It’s one of our most unique things,” Jennifer shares. The store is a haven for those who appreciate the charm of old and unique items that tell a story.
A Creative and Personal Touch
The name “Purple Peacock” reflects Jennifer’s style and creativity. She even designed the logo herself. “Purple is my favorite color,” she admits, adding that peacocks, being showy and spectacular, mirror the nature of her store.
