River District Construction Updates

Update: Thursday October 4, 2018  RE: Mill Street Parking  Lot. Due to the number of cars parking overnight and not moving till late morning which is hindering the road construction, the Town and Police Department have agreed to close off the parking area overnight. The main part of the parking area near Schilling will be closed off tonight (Thursday) but reopen by tomorrow afternoon after new gravel is installed. The contractor will not be working Monday October 8th and the parking lot will remain open until Tuesday morning for the Columbus Day weekend. The contractor is moving as quickly as possible through this area to get it paved. continues.

Update: Monday, September 17, 2018
The contractor will be finishing up sewer construction in the next few days. They will then start with the new drainage installation, beginning in the Bank parking lot and move down Ammonoosuc St. to Saranac St. (drainage starting around Wednesday/Thursday 9/19-9/20). Once the drainage is installed an additional crew will begin box cutting the parking lot starting by Schilling Beer Co. (box cutting is removing approx. 24-inches deep of existing material) and placing new road gravels in preparation of paving (box cutting starting Monday/Tuesday 9/24-9/25 of next week).

Starting next week the Mill St. parking lot will be very limited for parking until they have completed placing the new gravels. There will be heavy traffic coming through this area with Excavators, Bulldozers and Dump trucks so it will be very congested. The parking lot will remain open overnight after the contractor is done for the day. The contractor hopes to be through this section as quick as possible.

Update: Friday, August 31, 2018
Starting Tuesday September 4th the contractor will start back installing sewer in the parking lot. They will begin behind Thayer’s Inn then move from Ammonoosuc St. through the bank parking lot. This section will be closed off during construction but the main part of the parking lot will remain open. If all goes well the contractor should be out of this area at the end of next week.

After (Friday August 25th) all parking in Phase I will be open during the week (intersection of Porter St. & Mill St. to Shillings) the only day that a few parking spots will be taken up to install the existing sewer into the new is on Wednesday the 29th for a few hours in the morning. Starting Monday (27th) the parking along the sidewalk from the intersection of Porter St. & Mill St. to Ammonoosuc St. will be closed off, and on Tuesday through Thursday (28-30) the parking used by the bank will be closed. By Thursday the contractor will be completely out of the parking lot for the long weekend (No work to be done on Friday in the parking lot).
