We are delighted to announce that Vintage Market in the Mountains has joined the Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce! This beloved annual event has quickly established itself as one of the premier vintage markets in New Hampshire and New England. Let’s dive into what makes Vintage Market in the Mountains so special and why you should mark your calendars for their upcoming event.
A Brief History of Vintage Market in the Mountains
Founded by Sean Gawlik, Vintage Market in the Mountains premiered in 2019 and has since become a standout event in the region. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the market has grown significantly, attracting thousands of visitors yearly. Gawlik, a seasoned picker and vendor, spent six years planning the event before its debut, aiming to create a unique and family-friendly environment.
Event Details
The much-anticipated Vintage Market in the Mountains is held on the last weekend of July each year, and the 2024 event is scheduled for the weekend of July 27-28 at The Wayside Inn in Bethlehem, NH. This year, visitors can look forward to the return of favorite vendors such as Tipsy Gypsy, Ivy Lane, 603 Barrels, Vermont Vintage, Lee & Company, and Studio C. The event will also feature an array of food trucks and kids activities, as well as multiple live performances throughout the weekend.
Family and Pet-Friendly Environment
One key element of Vintage Market in the Mountains’ success is its inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. Gawlik has always prioritized creating a space where families and pet owners can feel comfortable. To this end, the market features a variety of entertainers, including face painters, aerial artists, jugglers, balloon artists, and chainsaw carvers, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.
New Attractions for 2024
This year’s event promises even more excitement with the return of popular family-friendly attractions, including chainsaw carving demonstrations and roaming circus arts by Aerilicious Entertainment of Boston are set to captivate attendees. Additionally, Vintage Market in the Mountains welcomes back Roman the Draft Horse from Free Rein Rescue, who will be on-hand for chin rubs and snacks all weekend long, as well as Peppersass, the famed Mount Washington steam engine from the Mount Washington Cog Railway and Peter Panic, the juggling unicyclist from Boston.
Supporting Local Charities
Vintage Market in the Mountains is not just about vintage treasures and entertainment; it is also deeply committed to supporting local charities. Long-standing partner organizations include the Veterans 2 Veterans Group. The event has also supported Freen Rein Rescue, Tarleton Castle Arts, North Country Home Health & Hospice, and regional historical societies.
Vendor Experience
Gawlik emphasizes that vendor satisfaction is crucial to the event’s success. The market’s strategic location with easy access to main roadways, on-site accommodations, and straightforward load-in and load-out procedures has led to high vendor retention rates. Many vendors have returned year after year, drawn by the supportive and well-organized environment.
Economic Impact
The positive impact of Vintage Market in the Mountains extends beyond the event itself. According to Sarah Levy, owner of the Wayside Inn, the market has consistently resulted in a sold-out hotel each summer. This influx of visitors benefits local businesses as tourists explore Main Street Bethlehem and Littleton shops, dine at local restaurants, and contribute to the overall economy of Littleton and the surrounding area.
