LITTLETON, NH — Closing out our 46th Season, Theatre UP invites audiences to experience the “Ship of Dreams” like never before, presented at the Littleton Opera House playing May 8 – 17. The company is proud to present the five-time Tony Award-winning Titanic: The Musical, featuring a majestic score by Maury Yeston and a poignant book by Peter Stone. This production trades cinematic melodrama for a soaring, soulful tribute to the real lives aboard the RMS Titanic. While many are familiar with the 1997 blockbuster film, this musical offers a different, more expansive journey. Rather than focusing on a central fictional romance, the stage production draws directly from the true stories of the passengers and crew. From the ambitious dreams of the third-class immigrants to the quiet dignity of the first-class legends, the show honors the actual people who stepped onto the deck in 1912.

Experience the Legend! UP is staging this epic in three-quarter round. This intimate configuration places the audience mere feet from the actors, making them feel less like spectators and more like passengers on the voyage. The heart of the production is its stunning, lush score, brought to life by a live orchestra. The power of the music—ranging from jubilant anthems of hope to hauntingly beautiful ballads—resonates with incredible intensity in the intimate setting, creating a wall of sound that is both breathtaking and deeply personal. “This isn’t just a history lesson; it’s a visceral experience,” says Artistic Director Andrew Lidestri. “By bringing the audience into the ‘round’ and surrounding them with our cast of nearly 30, we are removing the fourth wall. You aren’t just watching the Titanic; you’re on it.”

Titanic: The Musical is directed and choreographed for Theatre UP by Andrew Lidestri with music direction by Shoshana Lieberman. UP is dedicated to bringing high-quality theatre to the North Country, fostering local talent and providing unforgettable cultural experiences for audiences of all ages.
